Active Immune + Omega 3
Sitting school and college exams can often mean studying morning, noon, and night, and using up a huge amount of brain power each and every day in the lead up to the exams. It can often feel like your brain is so full of information, that you don’t know how you are going to be able to process more during your next study session.
As a team of Pharmacists who have been through our fair share of sitting both school and college exams, we’ve put together our list of top tips for nourishing your body and brain during this super intense period, and as you’ll see, it can really make all the difference.
Foods that nourish the brain!
That’s right – there are things you can do, foods you can eat, and supplements you can take, to ensure your brain is functioning as best as it can over these coming weeks.
In terms of some foods to include in your diet, it is important to note that a healthy diet overall is important for brain health, and the following should be included only as part of a balanced diet.
Nuts and seeds: these make for the perfect study snack, and are rich in vitamin E and healthy fats that are important for brain health. They also contain antioxidants that can help protect the brain.
Whole grains: a good source of glucose, which is the primary source of energy for the brain. They also contain vitamins and minerals that are important for brain health.
Fatty fish: Fish such as salmon, sardines, and mackerel are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are important for brain health.
Omega 3 supplementation:
If you’re like a lot of people however, fish can often be a forgotten or neglected part of the food pyramid. Our bodies cannot make Omega 3 however, so in order to get the benefits for our bodies and brains, we recommend the PharmaPlus 1000mg Omega 3 supplement, if you’re over the age of 18 and sitting exams.
A study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition found that Omega-3 supplementation can improve cognitive function in healthy young adults. The study found that students who took Omega-3 supplements had better working memory and reaction times compared to those who did not
That fear of having a cold or flu during your exams is real, isn’t it? All that work only for you to be feeling really run down and tired with a virus right when you need to be on top of your game.
The best things we can do to support immune health is maintain a healthy, balanced diet, and continue to engage in exercise we enjoy. Our Active Immune Teen supplement sachet is tropical flavoured and makes a lovely drink to have on your desk, whether it’s while you study, or during an exam, keeping you hydrated while getting your nutrients in.
Some of the key ingredients we have included in our Active Immune range to support immune health are:
- B vitamins, which are important for energy production and helping to keep the immune system strong.
- Elderberry, which has been shown to support immune defences.
- Wellmune – this is a beta glucan which has been peer-reviewed for immune support.
- N-Acetyl Cysteine, which is an antioxidant and also plays an important role in respiratory function.
Every ingredient included in the Active Immune range has been added based on specific scientific evidence of benefit, with particular attention paid to the dose of each ingredient included, to ensure maximal benefit.
